About The Artist~

I have found a true enjoyment in turning wood.  From the first time that I tried wood turning, I was hooked and now spend as much time as possible in my shop - living and breathing wood.  The main focus of my work is always the wood and shaping it in a way that will bring out its natural beauty. The majority of my work is done using green wood, allowing for the subtle changes that will occur as it dries. My pieces are all one-of-a-kind.

About The Wood~

Ash~
Is a heavy, hard, strong wood that retains its shape well and resists warping and shrinking. There is very little difference in color between heartwood and sapwood.  The sapwood is light creamy white.

Beech~
Is a heavy, hard, strong wood.  It has no taste or odor.

Cherry~
Is reddish brown and hard although relatively light. The color deepens with age.  The beautiful grain and color lend a warmth and individuality which cannot be surpassed by any other wood.  It has less warping, shrinking and swelling than any other wood.

Maple~
This light brown wood is strong, close-grained and rather hard.  The sapwood is pale and with the heartwood, takes a good polish.

Walnut~
The sapwood of walnut is creamy white, while the heartwood is light brown to dark chocolate brown, occasionally with a purplish cast and darker streaks. The wood develops a rich patina that grows more lustrous with age.
